Dr. Dmitriy Nikolavsky is a Reconstructive Urologist who serves as an Assistant Professor of Urology and Director of the Reconstructive Urology department at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse NY. Dr. Nikolavsky doesn’t perform gender reassignment surgery (GRS), rather he is an expert at treating post-operative urinary complications and provides long term follow-up care for patients who have undergone GRS.

Diplomates of the American Board of Urology with a general certificate in urology are certified to be trained in all areas of urology, including those for which subspecialty certificates are available. This all-inclusive policy is also endorsed by the American Board of Medical Specialties in reference to all subspecialty certificates offered by ABMS member boards.

He obtained his medical degree in 2004 from Wayne State University School of Medicine, then completed residencies in Urology and General Surgery at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak MI. He completed his fellowship in Reconstructive Urology at the University of Colorado in Aurora CO. Dr. Nikolavsky has sought out continuing surgical education with world-renowned Urology experts including Dr. Richard Santucci, Dr. Guido Barbagli and Dr. Sanjay Kulkarni.

Wait List
In most cases, Dr. Nikolavsky is able to accommodate patients wishing to have surgery within 1-4 days after the initial appointment. While this requires advance planning of the visit–clinic appointment, diagnostic procedures, labs, preoperative anesthesia clearance and surgery time–most patients can be accommodated even with very short notice.
