Training and Professional Memberships
Dr. Nghiem obtained her undergraduate honors degree at Dartmouth College, followed by a Master’s degree in Physiology at Georgetown University. She subsequently earned her medical degree at the University of Michigan, one of the most highly ranked medical schools in the United States. Dr. Nghiem completed six years of specialty training in plastic surgery through the Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency program at the University of Rochester, followed by a year of advanced fellowship training in aesthetic plastic surgery. She is licensed to practice in Washington, DC, Maryland, Virginia and California.
Dr. Nghiem is affiliated with George Washington University Hospital, Sibley Memorial Hospital, INOVA Fairfax Hospital and INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital. Surgeries are done at George Washington University Hospital and Glen Echo Surgery Center.

Feminizing Surgery
Breast Augmentation in Washington DC: Dr. Nghiem has a special interest in breast surgery. In Dr. Nghiem’s hands, Breast Augmentation takes one to two hours to complete and recovery is straightforward. Most patients are back to work in a week. Dr. Nghiem offers both saline and silicone implants and will discuss the pros and cons of each during your consultation. She also offers a periareolar lift to reposition the nipple in the ideal spot on the breast mound. In addition, she offers fat grafting with breast implants to enhance the cleavage lines.
Dr. Nghiem is also experienced with feminizing Rhinoplasty and Lip Lift procedures, as well as Body Feminization (sculpting/contouring).
Dr. Nghiem sees her patients regularly after surgery to ensure optimal results. For most procedures, follow-ups occur at the following intervals after surgery: 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 1 year. Out-of-town patients are advised to stay locally for the first 1 to 2 weeks after surgery.

Costs, Insurance and Financing
Cost varies by procedure. Exact pricing for paying out-of-pocket can only be determined following a consultation. The price you’ll be quoted will include the cost of the procedure as well as anesthesia, operating room, and any needed post surgical garments.
Dr. Nghiem is currently accepting insurance from most commercial health insurance companies, including:

Dr. Nghiem also accepts CareCredit and United Medical Credit, which are medical financing plans that work much like credit cards.

Surgery Requirements
- If using insurance, you will need to provide a letter of support from a mental health provider for insurance approval. Typically, the requirement is one letter.
- Smoking cessation is required at least one month before and after surgery to ensure optimal healing.
- Additional tests such as bloodwork and mammogram may be required based on age and medical history.
