Dr. Russell Sassani, MD is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon offering transgender surgery in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed his residency training in General Surgery and Plastic Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Financing and Insurance
Dr. Sassani accepts medical financing and Medicare. Dr. Sassani is not in-network with any insurance plans and does not accept insurance directly. However, if you have a plan with out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement after paying upfront for surgery. To avoid unexpected costs, ask whether you could be subject to balance billing, and confirm whether the surgical facility or any assisting providers are also considered out-of-network under your plan.
To verify your coverage, contact your insurance company’s member services department or speak with a benefits representative where you work. Ask the following:
- Does my plan include out-of-network benefits?
- Does my plan cover gender-affirming top surgery? (You can also provide the insurance rep with the following billing codes: ICD-10: F64.8 – Gender identity disorder; CPT: 19303 – FTM Top Surgery / mastectomy or 19325 – MTF Breast Augmentation.)
- How much is my out-of-network deductible, and has any of it been met?
- Will I be responsible for balance billing from the surgeon or facility?
