Fellowship-Trained Surgeon For Top Surgery and Breast Augmentation in Seattle
Dr. Alvina Won, MD is a board-certified cosmetic surgeon who is committed to providing the highest quality of care in a welcoming environment for all patients. Dr. Won gained significant experience with gender-affirming surgery during a year-long cosmetic surgery fellowship in 2018/2019. Finding this work to be extremely gratifying and interesting, she now devotes half of her practice to serving the transgender patient population. Based in Washington state, just north of Seattle, Dr. Won offers Top Surgery, Breast and Buttock Augmentation, and Body Sculpting.
Dr. Won is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, where she obtained a BS in biochemistry. She completed medical school at the University of California, San Diego and subsequently completed her general surgery residency at the prestigious University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Dr. Won then received fellowship training in cardiothoracic surgery at SUNY Syracuse. She practiced general surgery in Yakima, Washington for several years, and then embarked on a transformative year-long fellowship in cosmetic surgery with the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, completing over 500 cases.
Dr. Won has obtained board certification with the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery (2019-2029), the American Board of Surgery (2007-2027) and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (2008-2018). She is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Washington State Medical Association and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). Dr. Won has published and presented her research in academic journals and conferences, including a 2020 study on free nipple grafts in FTM Top Surgery.
“There is little documentation available that clearly describes the healing process of free nipple grafts for patients and their caregivers. Free nipple grafts are a useful tool in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the breast, and especially useful for FTM chest reconstruction. They are simple to perform and yield acceptably aesthetic results. Patients often have concerns and questions during the healing process about what to expect, especially during the desquamation period. Providing education and information about the healing process of free nipple grafts will help to reassure the patients as well as their caregivers.” — Won A and Mangubat EA. Free Nipple Grafts: What to expect during the healing process. The American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery, April 2020, doi:10.1177/0748806820915045.
Top Surgery in Seattle
Dr. Won gained experience with Top Surgery while receiving fellowship training from Dr. Tony Mangubat, a 20+ year veteran of gender surgery. There are two main surgical techniques that Dr. Won uses to reconstruct the chest: Double Incision Top Surgery and Keyhole Top Surgery.
“Dr. Won has her craft perfected. My scars are identical and I couldn’t ask for more natural nipple grafts. All of the staff at Eviva is so kind and personable. I am constantly recommending Dr. Won to non binary and trans loved ones. I feel so lucky to have found Dr. Won and her team.” – Source: Google Reviews, March 2023.
Dr. Won also performs Body Masculinization Surgery for those who are dissatisfied with feminine-looking curves that haven’t been reduced through exercise or testosterone. The goal of Body Masculinization Surgery is to broaden the appearance of the chest and shoulders while slimming the waist. The areas commonly treated to achieve this are:
- Upper body: Chest and back
- Abdomen (Abdominoplasty, aka “Tummy Tuck”)
- Flanks (“love handles”)
- Hips
- Buttocks
- Inner and outer thighs (“saddlebags”)
Multiple areas can be treated in one surgery. Body Masculinization Surgery is performed using Liposuction, a safe procedure that suctions and removes fat from targeted areas.

Seattle Breast Augmentation
When it comes to MTF Top Surgery, there are significant differences between trans and cis chest measurements that have implications concerning breast implant selection and surgical approach. This underlies the importance of selecting a surgeon who has experience specifically with Breast Augmentation in transgender patients, and Dr. Won is both skilled and experienced in this area.
Breast implants come in a variety of shapes, or profiles. When choosing an implant size, it is important to consider the overall appearance of your physique so your breasts appear balanced and proportional. Dr. Won will discuss with you how much breast projection, width and volume you would like and will make appropriate recommendations for breast implant size and shape.
Dr. Won also offers Buttock Augmentation and Body Feminization to further augment your feminine curves. Liposuction is used to remove excess fat from the abdomen, “love handles” and mid back, and some of the extracted fat can be transferred to provide additional curves in the thighs and buttocks.
Dr. Won operates at Eviva, an ambulatory surgery center in Shoreline, Washington. To ensure that all of her patients feel welcomed and affirmed, Dr. Won’s practice has a non-discrimination policy, gender neutral bathrooms, and staff have received sensitivity training.
– “Dr. Won is awesome! Not only is she caring and patient, but she is very attentive as well. She always gets back to me quickly and answers any concerns I may have. She did a fantastic job on my breast augmentation and as well as my botox and fillers. I will continue to see Dr. Won for my cosmetic needs and highly recommend.” – Source: Google Reviews.
