Dr. Andrew Watt, MD is a Reconstructive Microsurgeon at the Buncke Clinic, widely considered to be the birthplace of microsurgery. He is a highly accomplished Phalloplasty surgeon having performed hundreds of microvascular Phalloplasty and related procedures with his team in San Francisco.

Dr. Watt obtained his medical degree from the University of Michigan School of Medicine, and completed his residency in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford University, followed by a fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at the University of Washington. Dr. Watt has been performing gender-affirming surgery since he joined the Buncke Clinic in 2012.

Dr. Watt is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of multiple surgical societies, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, the American Society of Gender Surgeons and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH).

Dr. Watt is widely published in academic journals and has co-authored numerous studies on the subjects of microsurgery, Phalloplasty and related procedures.

Dr. Watt performs the following Gender Affirming Surgery procedures:

  • Phalloplasty – Radial Forearm Flap (RFF) & Anterolateral Thigh (ALT)
  • Glansplasty

Dr. Watt is affiliated with California Pacific Medical Center, the largest medical center and flagship hospital of the Northern California-based Sutter Health health system.

Surgery Requirements
Dr. Watt follows WPATH guidelines for surgery:

  • You will need to provide two referrals from qualified mental health professionals.
  • A letter from your hormone specialist stating you have been on 12 months of continuous hormones, unless clinically contraindicated.

Per hospital policy, patients must be 18 years of age or older.

Financing & Insurance
Dr. Watt accepts insurance from a wide number of insurance companies, including Blue Shield, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Cigna, Kaiser and Health Net, as well as Medicaid (Medi-Cal). A cash pay rate can also be requested.
