Dr. Daniel J. Freet, MD, FACS, is a board certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who offers the full spectrum of Gender Affirming Surgery procedures at the University of Texas in Houston. Dr. Freet is the Medical Director of UT’s Transgender Medicine & Surgery Program where he leads a multidisciplinary team that performs both male-to-female and female-to-male surgery, including facial and chest surgeries as well as Vaginoplasty, Metoidioplasty and Phalloplasty. Dr. Freet is pleased to work with patients from Texas as well as those coming from out of state.
Originally from San Diego, Dr. Freet received his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine, and went on to complete both general and plastic surgery residencies at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, McGovern Medical Center. He is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

Dr. Freet maintains active membership in the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons, and is also a member of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH).

Dr. Freet follows the WPATH Standards of Care and letters recommending surgery are required.

Dr. Freet accepts insurance, including Cigna, Blue Cross-Blue Shield, Aetna, as well as Medicare Advantage (also known as Part C or MA.) Cash, credit cards, certified check, and medical financing are also accepted.
