Dr. Joel Beck, MD, FACS is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who has been performing transgender surgery procedures since 2003. Based in Charlotte NC, Dr. Beck routinely performs Facial Feminization Surgery, Breast Augmentation Surgery, FTM Top Surgery, Body Contouring with Fat Transfer, and Hair Restoration. Dr. Beck’s skills have earned him an international reputation for providing patients with natural-looking results.

Dr. Beck owns and operates at his own surgical space in South Charlotte. Waverly Surgery Center is an 11,000 square-foot building featuring an elegant office space, an ambulatory surgery center with two operating rooms and two 23 hour/overnight observation rooms for postoperative monitoring. This provides Dr. Beck’s patients with a single destination for their surgery, from office consultations and surgery day, to bedside aftercare.

Consultations with Dr. Beck
Dr. Beck is available for phone, Skype video or in-office consultations. There is a $200 Insurance Verification Fee once consultation is completed. Dr. Beck’s wait list for surgery dates is approximately two months.
Financing and Insurance
Dr. Beck accepts cash, cashier’s checks, credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Discover.) Dr. Beck also accepts medical financing with payment plans from 6-60 months via CareCredit.com, withCherry.com and Alphaeon.com.
Dr. Beck’s staff can provide insurance assistance for Top Surgery, FFS, Hair Restoration and Body Sculpting. He as worked with Health Net, Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Cigna and Aetna, and is willing to work with other insurance companies as well. Dr. Beck is an out-of-network provider. He does not accept Medicare or Medicaid.
Surgery Requirements
Dr. Beck follows WPATH guidelines for surgery. You will need to provider one letter from a mental health provider, plus one letter from a hormone provider, if you are using insurance to cover the surgery. If you are a self-pay patient, one letter from a mental health provider is required before a consultation is scheduled.
Dr. Beck has a BMI limit of 30-32, however Dr. Beck offers weight loss management and welcomes patients with a higher BMI.
Dr. Beck will operate on patients aged 18 years and older.
