Feminizing Surgery

Gender-Affirming Genital Surgery: Dr. Del Corral is a Vaginoplasty expert who performs the penile inversion method as a one-stage procedure. This surgery alters the structure of the genitals to create a vagina using penile tissue. Hair removal is not required; follicles are removed during surgery. Alternatively, Dr. Del Corral can use Sigmoid Colon tissue to create depth and provide a natural source of lubrication. He also offers the Peritoneal Pull-Through method. Dr. Del Corral uses a robotic-assisted approach to minimize incisions in the abdomen and speed up recovery.

Dr. Del Corral has a special interest in post-Vaginoplasty revision cases. A secondary procedure allows for revisions to the urethra, neovaginal canal, labia minora and majora addressing asymmetries within the vagina and scar revisions to improve functionality.

Robotic Vaginoplasty revisions are reserved for patient who have failed primary penile inversion Vaginoplasty. This procedure can increase the length of the vaginal canal while minimizing the potential of rectal, urethral and bladder injuries. The canal can be extended or replaced with a combination of peritoneal flaps and a full thickness skin graft. Patient will require postoperative dilation similar to a primary penile inversion Vaginoplasty. In many cases, this procedure can avoid the use of Sigmoid Colon tissue.

Dr. Del Corral also offers the so-called Zero Depth procedure, Vulvoplasty, which is suited to those who aren’t interested in receiving penetrative vaginal sex; have concerns about age and recovery; identify as non-binary and feel that Vulvoplasty is an appropriate choice; or have higher risk factors.

“I think a lot of people see us sometimes as really technicians than surgeons. But the reality is that we got into this field to really advise and care for patients throughout the process. And I feel like the relationship I have with my patients when they come from a gender affirmation journey, it’s not something that’s just a one month or three month or six month follow up. It’s really years of follow up and making sure they’re doing well and being there for them throughout the process, and guide them through that.” – Dr. Del Corral

Breast Augmentation: For a more feminine breast contour, silicone or saline breast implants can be inserted through an incision under the breast, in the armpit, or around the nipple.

“[Dr. Del Corral is the best doctor around, he really changed my life. He is really understanding and listens to your needs.” – MTF Breast Augmentation patient, realself.com.

Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS): A group of surgical procedures that feminize facial features. FFS includes surgical manipulation of the hairline, brow, nose, chin and neck line. Dr. Del Corral offers:

Phalloplasty in Baltimore and Washington D.C.

He works with a multidisciplinary team that includes a reconstructive urologist, gynecologist and physical therapist. The staging of surgeries is dependent on several factors. The first surgery usually takes 1-2 hrs for the placement of the expanders. Vaginectomy is required if Urethral Lengthening is also being performed. Dr. Del Corral uses a Gracilis muscle flap during the Urethroplasty to decrease urethral complications. He uses Coloplast testicular and erectile implants.
