The Crane Center for Transgender Surgery has announced the launch of a gender-affirming hormone clinic at their transgender wellness center in Austin, Texas. The new clinic offers hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for transgender and non-binary adults living in Texas, and is led by community member S. Parker, PA-C under the direction of primary care physician Dr. Linda Esquivel.
According to a 2022 study from researchers at the Williams Institute at the UCLA School of Law, Texas has the third-largest population of transgender residents in the U.S., trailing only California and Florida. Approximately 92,900 transgender people live in Texas and for many, access to safe and affordable HRT can be a struggle.
The Crane Center’s hormone clinic improves access to respectful care through an informed consent model, facilitating a partnership between provider and patient to create a care plan that is affirming of the patient’s goals. Both in-office and telemedicine appointments are available to patients from across the state of Texas, and all major insurance plans are accepted.
S. Parker (he/him) has been a Physician Assistant for 13 years, with the bulk of his career in Pediatrics. He joined the Crane Center in 2021, running post-surgical appointments in Austin, and is thrilled to be leading the hormone clinic.
“I am honored to offer this service to my community and it is a responsibility I gladly accept. My experience in Pediatrics allowed me to develop longstanding relationships with my patients and their families. I look forward to doing the same with the patients I will care for here at the Crane Center.”
The clinic is open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and appointments can be booked by calling 512-446-9486 or filling out this form.
