Education and Training

Dr. Yoo earned both a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a B.A. in English (Culture, Media, and Rhetorical Studies) from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2013, followed by her M.D. at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria in 2018. Dr. Yoo’s residency training was done through the integrated LSU Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Residency Program where she discovered a passion for gender-affirming surgery. She went on to fellowship training in gender-affirming surgery with Dr. Toby Meltzer, a pioneering plastic and reconstructive surgeon who has been performing gender surgery since the early ’90s.

  • Genital Surgery: Orchiectomy, vulvoplasty, and vaginoplasty (penile inversion, peritoneal flap, and sigmoid colon).
