Dr. Blair Peters, MD (he/they) is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon and Associate Professor of Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). He is internationally recognized for his expertise in gender-affirming surgery and peripheral nerve reconstruction. Dr. Peters is known for incorporating advanced microsurgical techniques, and a patient-centered approach tailored to the needs of trans and nonbinary individuals.
Education and Training
Dr. Peters earned his B.S. degrees in 2010 and 2012 and completed his M.D. in 2014 at the University of Manitoba in Canada. He remained at the University of Manitoba for his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which he completed in 2019. Following residency, he pursued an elite fellowship in Peripheral Nerve Reconstruction, Microsurgery, and Hand Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri.
He holds board certification in Plastic Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and is certified by the Medical Council of Canada and the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
Research and Awards
Dr. Peters is a pioneering voice in gender-affirming surgical innovation. His research and clinical practice emphasize the role of nerve preservation and sensation in surgical outcomes, particularly in phalloplasty and vaginoplasty. He serves as Director of the Advanced Surgery Fellowship in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at OHSU and has lectured nationally and internationally on trans surgical care. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and a member of multiple surgical associations.

Dr. Peters is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and follows WPATH guidelines for surgery. A letter of recommendation from a qualified mental health provider is required.
