Scrotoplasty
Scrotoplasty is a gender-affirming procedure for trans men and non-binary AFAB individuals that provides a scrotum. The primary approach, often referred to as “VY Scrotoplasty”, involves dissection and rotation of the labia majora to create a single scrotal sac. Prosthetic testicular implants made of silicone and filled with either silicone gel or saline are optionally inserted in a follow-up procedure after adequate healing has occurred. Tissue expanders may also be used prior to inserting implants to increase the size of the scrotum. Some surgeons put in testicular implants without actually performing Scrotoplasty, resulting in a bifid scrotum.
